The main ideas
You only need to understand a few words to use Simplifyd MDM.
| Word | What it means |
|---|---|
| Device | One phone, tablet, or laptop that you manage. |
| Enrolment | The one-time setup that connects a device to your console. |
| Group | A label you put on devices so you can manage them together, like Year-10-Tablets. |
| Policy | The rules a device must follow, such as needing a screen lock. |
| App | Software you install on devices from the console. |
| Command | A one-off instruction you send to a device, such as Lock or Wipe. |
| Alert | A warning that a device is breaking a rule or has stopped reporting in. |
| Audit log | The permanent record of who did what, and when. |
How it works, in one minute
- You enrol a device. This gives it a permanent link to your console.
- You put the device in a group.
- A policy is assigned to that group, so the device picks up the rules.
- The device checks in regularly and reports its health, battery, storage, and location.
- If something looks wrong, you get an alert and can act on it straight away.
Getting help
If something is not working the way this guide describes, your organisation's Simplifyd MDM administrator is the first person to ask. They can see the audit log and the alerts for your whole fleet, which is usually enough to explain what happened.
